yamaca?

Last night on America's Got Talent, there was a little boy who sang that had a yamaca on his head. Kensley asked why he wore that. I told her it was because his family is Jewish. She wanted me to elaborate so all I told her, without getting into a huge controversial (3 minutes before bedtime) about Judaism, was that their family believes in just God. She said so very matter of factly, "Well, I am gonna need one of those, because I believe in God, too!" :) It was sweet.

Hurricane update

We are a little embarrassed to admit that, on our hurricane day (where there's currently no rain) we are just laying low. Libby was snuggling on the couch with Mike and me, while Kensley was playing in the foyer. I declared that Libby was loving our hurricane day. Kensley piped in, "I do! Because I can stay in my pajamas a long time." There ya have it. We're still lazily in pajamas, watching the sun peek thru the clouds, hunkering down for this storm.

We don't need no stinkin'...

Hurricane!!! Kensley and I enjoyed the calm before the storm. The water was much rougher today than yesterday - red flag. We played just on the shoreline and admired crystal clear waters and agitated seas. Be nice to these beaches, Isaac. They are my favorite!!!

Trip to Ohio

This year, we road tripped up to TN to visit with some Marlatt-Jackson's and then headed up to Ohio to visit Grandma and Grandpa. In an added bonus, we got to hang with Uncle Dave, Aunt Barb, and company - which meant there was fudge to be had!

4th of July

The Wheeler's joined us this year for fireworks at the beach. It literally was the largest-spread show that I've ever seen. It spanned about 8 miles and we could see (some better than others) fireworks all over the pinch.
This is us - acting like we like each other... ;)

I didn't quit...

I just took a break from "blogging" (sporadic mobile-posting) to enjoy my summer and move.
...Move classrooms that is. I have the wonderful opportunity to leave public education for a while (hopefully not forever (and ever)) and teach at Kensley's school. I love how advanced their curriculum is and how children are brimming over to soak it all up. I am still cheering for those of you out there who are in public education. I am really cheering for you!
Here are some fun pictures from the overall summer. Nothing special, just fun. Yes, Kensley is huge. She had nothing but a growth spurt all year long!

"Beaver" Fever

Recently, Kensley came to me and asked me to help her find a Justin "Beaver" song on her iPad. After some back and forth, I realized the song she wanted wasn't in her collection. She asked me if I could "get" it for her. I informed Kensley that it needed to be purchased, meaning it costs money, and inquired if that one song was worth breaking open her piggy bank. Without hesitation, she excitedly raised her little fists to her face and squealed "yes, thank you" like the tween I suspect she could be.
Giddy with her new awareness, I army-crawled into Kensley's bedroom and found her soaking up as much Bieber as she could. This is the exchange thereafter.

Our first beach trip

...of the season at a whopping 83 degrees the 3rd week in March. It was a blast - if the expression wasn't discernible.

Spring Break

... Just wore this girl out!

Germ balls

We wiped her down profusely after she played in the ball pit!

No rest for the weary...

Kensley enjoyed Catch Air while we were in Atl for spring break. She didn't stick with any station longer than 2-3 minutes. She can read, color and put puzzles together with a great deal stamina - so I am not panicked. :)

Ok, bear with me on this...

There was a poster on pinterest the other night that I got a chuckle out of. Kensley asked me to read it and it said, "I hate going to the grocery store and seeing someone I know and they are like,'What are you doing here?!?' and I just say, 'oh, you know...hunting elephants." Kensley apparently thought it was just as funny because she wanted to repeat [mostly] this joke over and over. She's a funny kid!

This is weird...

But Kensley loves to have her picture taken with mannequins! :)
