Kensley is settling nicely into her school. She loves getting her weekly Bible Verse that we get to practice before bed each night. Occasionally she has homework - and they do tons of work each day. In fact, one day, Kensley had so much to talk about, Mike and I looked at the clock and the child had literally been talking for almost two hours STRAIGHT! Neither of us got a word in edge-wise and all we could do was agree with her, ask necessary questions or prompts and keep on keepin' on. Does Kensley love school - YES!
I continue to love first graders as much as I always have. They are some of the greatest little people on earth. If you have one - you know I am right. When Kensley becomes a first grader, I am going to freeze her and she will not be allowed to mature beyond that point...maybe - possibly? I have found myself as the regular ed teacher of my own first graders. Two weeks after I began co-teaching, I was given my own class of first graders. Our school just keeps getting more and more and more! I couldn't be happier with this blessing.
Mike continues to do what it is he does and also does alot of things I used to do. He has helped with Kensley tremendously on days that he has wiggle room. He's also a co-contributer of meals again. We are anxiously awaiting cooler weather so the crockpot can do most of the cooking again.
One of my aunts has a farm and allowed Kensley her very first ride on a horse over Labor Day. If you know me, you know what a big deal this was for ME, not Kensley. I actually had to pretend like the horse wasn't going to eat us in two bites. I sweated alot during this particular exericse in mommyhood. The horse didn't eat us and I enjoyed petting him. :)
Someone has a big girl bed... Thankfully I found bedding I like - not pictured. I just need a bedskirt and I will then post her "new room." For now, this is the big girl bed and us reading before bed. A word of caution: This bed will hold adults hostage! I have awoken hours later than I laid down!
Here's the cute uniform BEFORE the haircut. I like purple and always have, but I love seeing Kensley in it. It's a beautiful color on her and I love the color of the shirts (and the fact that I don't have to search for something to wear every night!)
Kensley writing on her chalkboard. She drew a frown-face for the bad kids at school...ohhhhhhhhhhh!
Kensley loves oranges now. Loves them.
My d-o-g never did this, but my darling human girl does... I thought BOYS were supposed to be gross.
She loves to paint. This is a pic with the new hairdo. Apparently all of the ones with her haircut are on the iPhone - and I am not sure why they didn't sync to the computer?
We went to WALK along the beach this weekend in the beautiful weather... Kensley got her pants a little bit wet.
...then a little bit wetter...
...and a little wetter...
...until she just used her outfit as a bathing suit. This picture is a fast-favorite. It epitomizes her love for the beach and the water. Pure bliss. (and go Dawgs!)
Pop and Kensley put on a "Pola" Bear puppet show. Lots of giggles.
